PDO thread facelift

A nonsurgical facelift is a combination of different procedures that aim to provide a facelift without surgery complications. At Albany Cosmetic and Laser Center, we rely on PDO threads, fillers, and Botox to counteract the effect of gravity.

Nonsurgical facelift

The non-invasive procedure is an office procedure under local anesthesia and gets patients in and out of the quickly, with little post-op discomfort and minimal downtime. Dr. Kamal Alhallak, a Pharmacist with Ph.D. in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical sciences, mainly performs the procedure.

What are the threads?

They are cosmetic sutures with different polymers, such as Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) and polydioxanone (PDO) threads. The advantage of threads is the immediate lifting without adding volume to the area.

Threads were first used for cosmetic purposes in the late 1990s. However, Canada was late to adopt this practice. Threading is a simple but difficult technique. The threads are inserted through a cannula and tucked behind the skin.

Procedure

Firstly, we marked the entry points and injected lidocaine without norepinephrine. Then we implanted the threads on the dermal level to give more effective results. And lastly, We applied cold compressing directly after the procedure.

What are the side effects of this procedure?

There is usually bruising and swelling for a week after the procedure. But although this depends on the type of skin you have.
