Tear Trough fillers

before after Tear trough fillers

The area under the eyes is a common cosmetic concern. Issues in this area are often associated with looking tired. If you have dark circles under your eyes, you’ve undoubtedly tried every brightening cream but have not found the fix; this non-surgical treatment is for you. Tear troughs can be treated with dermal fillers, which help disguise eye bags and smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, lasting six months to a year.

What are tear troughs?

Tear troughs are the hollows between the lower Eyelid and the cheeks. In many cases, tear troughs are genetic rather than a result of aging and often appear even in the teenage years. Tear troughs can be corrected by injecting dermal filler directly in the groove between the lower Eyelid and cheek. This lifts the tear trough to the lower Eyelid and cheek level, smoothing the area’s appearance. Normally, the type of filler used is hyaluronic acid, such as Restylane, Belotero, and Juvederm. Juvederm Volbella filler was used in this case as it is the thinnest filler on the market. Hyaluronic acid is a compound that your body makes naturally, so it’s unlikely to cause bad reactions, but it degrade over time, meaning that your fillers are temporary.

Case study 1053

A female in her mid-40s came in with concerns regarding her tear troughs (under her eyes). She had hollowness and black shadows surrounding this area due to weight loss. After carefully reviewing her options and keeping her medical history in mind, we decided to proceed with Juvederm Volbella fillers using a blunt cannula, allowing the needle to pass through, requiring only one poke. This procedure, including the numbing cream application, was done in under 15 minutes.

The procedure of tear trough fillers

We used a blunt cannula to allow the needle to go through smoothly. You may feel a slight poke, almost like a pinch, during the injection of the tear through fillers. To minimize bruising and swelling, we used the chiller after the procedure.

Cost

The cost of this procedure varies depending on how much filler is needed. In this case study, we used one syringe of filler. Therefore, the price was $750.00 plus tax.

Side effects

The main side effects of tear trough fillers are bruising and swelling, which lasts up to 4-5 days but varies with each person, depending on their skin type.
