Coolsculpting Care Instructions

Before Coolsculpting

People who want to use CoolSculpting should read these instructions.

Here are some things to look for:

  • Have a free consultation to talk about all the options, prices, and paperwork. When you go home, dress in clothes that are easy to get into. Before your treatment, bring clothes that are easy to get into.
  • In your consultation, you talked about how to use a compression garment right after your treatment. You should bring one with you.

During Coolsculpting

Non-surgical CoolSculpting may take from one hour, depending on how many areas you want to get rid of, but it doesn’t need to hurt.

There is no need for general or topical anesthesia or pain medication.

As soon as the procedure starts, a vacuum draws tissue into an applicator cup between two cooling panels. The vacuum pressure may make the area being treated feel like it’s being pulled, tugged, and pinched.

You may also feel intense stinging, tingling, aching, or cramping, as well. These feelings usually go away when the area is numb.

Right Away After CoolSculpting

Immediately after the coolsculpting, your skin may look or feel stiff and tender, and there may be a little whitening of the skin.

In the beginning, your body will naturally warm up, and your senses will return to the treatment area. You might feel nauseous or dizzy. These are normal reactions that usually go away in a few minutes.

For up to 24 hours after the applicator is removed, the treated area may be a little red. This is a normal but short-lived side effect of CoolSculpting.

Bruising, swelling, and tenderness may happen in the area that was treated. This usually gets better in a week or two.

Many people have nausea and feel tingling, stinging, and cramping in the area where they are getting treated on their first day.

You might not feel as much pain in the area that was treated for a short time. This is normal and lasts only for a few hours, but it may last for a few weeks after your surgery.

After CoolSculpting, there is usually little to no downtime. When the procedure is done, most patients can go back to their normal lives right away and go back to work. Please bring a book or headphones so you can get distracted during the treatment. You will have wifi access so you can watch your favorite movie

Few Days After CoolSculpting

During the first few days and weeks after having CoolSculpting, the treated area will likely look and feel a little bloated and swollen.

You may experience some changes in touch sensation as well as before for a short time. This can last for a few weeks.

At some sometime after the procedure, you may feel weird itching feeling, tingling, numbness, tenderness pain in the treated area, strong cramping, diarrhea, muscle spasms, aching, and/or soreness in the area where the procedure was done. If you experience these symptoms for more than two weeks or get worse over time, see your doctor.

Fat layers will gradually get thinner after this procedure, but it will happen very slowly at first. Before you know it, you’ll start to see changes. You might see the biggest changes in one to three months. For about four months after your surgery, your body will naturally remove the damaged fat cells from your body.

Weight gain will keep you from fully appreciating your progress. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercising after your surgery can help you avoid this.

Schedule a follow-up medical appointment to review your clinical results and talk about the possibility of additional coolsculpting treatments to get rid of the fat you want.
