Rosacea Treatment with IPL

Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a skin condition that is characterized by frequent flushing or blushing and a generally bright red appearance to the skin on the face. There are many skin care products you can use before going to see a professional but if you have tried everything and are ready to step it up a notch then I am happy to inform you about the intense pulsed light laser or IPL for short that treat's Rosacea and among other things.

What is IPL?

IPL is similar to a laser treatment. However, a laser focuses just one wavelength of light at your skin, while IPL releases light of many different wavelengths, like a photo flash. The light from IPL is more scattered and less focused than a laser. IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis), so it causes less damage to your skin. It uses laser to pulse through the skin’s surface, targeting a specific area in the underlying tissue. In the treatment of pigmentation, the laser causes the pigment to break down into smaller particles, before rising up to the surface of the skin to flake away as part of the body’s natural healing process.

Case 1054

A female in her late 60’s came in with concerns regarding the redness on her cheeks. Even though it’s not a health concern the patient made it very clear that she wants it gone. After carefully reviewing her options and keeping her medical history in mind, we decided to proceed with 3 sessions using the intense pulsed light laser (IPL) would be best and would give the results she is wanting. This specific procedure was done under 45 minutes and is completely painless therefore no numbing was required.

The procedure

We used the IPL laser which uses controlled light in specific wavelengths to alleviate the redness on the cheeks. We provide eye protection during the procedure for the safety of our patients. While most people are fine with the light pulses, the treatment would feel like an extremely light bearable sting.

Cost

Each session is $150.00 but at our center we offer a package of 3 sessions for $360.00 with a 20% discount.

Side effects

The main side effects to be expected are bruising, swelling and redness which lasts up to 4-5 days but varies with each person depending on their skin type.

Results

Inserted below are before and after pictures of three sessions that were taken 2 weeks apart. You can see results almost immediately after the second session.
