The Results of acne treatment with IPL

The patient is a 24-year-old female who presented with inflammatory acne on her forehead. The patient had a history of mild acne that had worsened in the past few months, and she was unhappy with the appearance of her skin. The patient had previously tried over-the-counter acne products with little improvement.

Treatment Plan

After an initial consultation, the patient was recommended to undergo four intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments spaced two weeks apart. The IPL treatments were recommended due to the patient’s Fitzpatrick skin type, which is a skin type that responds well to IPL treatments.

Treatment Results

After completing the four sessions of IPL treatment, the patient reported a significant improvement in the appearance of her skin. The inflammatory acne on her forehead had reduced size, redness, and overall appearance. The patient also reported a reduction in new acne lesions on her forehead.

After four IPL sessions, the patient could discontinue her topical acne medication, which she had used for several months before treatment. The patient reported feeling more confident and happy with the appearance of her skin, and the results were maintained over time.

Discussion

IPL treatment for acne is an effective and safe alternative to traditional acne treatments. The treatment uses intense pulsed light to penetrate the skin, targeting and destroying the bacteria that cause acne. The treatment also reduces inflammation and sebum production, two contributing factors to acne.

In conclusion, the four sessions of IPL treatment significantly improved the appearance of the patient’s skin. The treatment was well-tolerated, and the results were maintained over time. IPL treatment can be suitable for patients with inflammatory acne on the forehead, particularly those with Fitzpatrick skin types.
