Laser Hair Removal FAQs
Is laser hair removal safe?
Yes, during the treatment, a Contact Cooling System is applied to guard the outer layer of the skin. The light comes through a crystal window which is placed in close contact with your skin, to eliminate the heat that makes you feel a “pinch”
You will only feel little discomfort during the treatment. A lot of people attest to the fact that the treatment is very comfortable compared to electrolysis, waxing, and tweezing.
Laser hair removal is approved by the Food and Drug Administration and has gone through rigorous trails to guarantee efficacy and safety. All our laser therapists are skilled in carrying out the treatments. Before starting a procedure, we carry out a patch test to make sure the skin is safe.
How does the treatment works?
Lasers produce light at a particular wavelength which is sucked up by the hair follicle pigment— without destroying the surrounding the targeted area. The laser light is transformed to heat energy, which in turn stops the hair follicle from producing another hair.
What areas are treated with laser hair removal?
The procedure can safely remove hair from any part of the body except the small part within the bony edge of the eye socket.
How long does the treatment take?
Several factors ascertain the duration a treatment takes. It can be done slowly or swiftly, provided it is appropriate and for our client.
The topography and size of the treated part influence time needed for a session. However, the backs and legs take about an hour, while ear tops and upper may need 9 to 10 minutes. Underarms and neck may take approximately 20 minutes.
What is the maximum number of laser hair removal treatments?
This is determined by several factors such as the targeted area, thickness, and density of the hair. You may require at least 4 to 6 treatments
Thick or Coarse hair may take more time to treat, however, your consultation with a skilled therapist will let you know what to expect.
Why do I need several treatments needed?
A course of treatments is needed because laser works on growing hair and doesn’t work on hair that is withering or falling out.
Since the hair has different growth phases, you will require a couple of procedures spread out over several weeks to make sure that the laser targets all the hairs in their growth phase.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
When the procedure is performed the right way, it is very effective for a lot of patients. Non-responders are those with white, gray, light blond or red hair. Nonetheless, with Cynosure Elite+, a lot of people have recorded 80-90% permanent hair removal. Some candidates achieve 100% removal, while some don’t.
Is it a painful process?
During the procedure, several patients say the pain feels like the slapping of a Rubberband. Others say it tickles, although it depends on the area being treated. The only pain, if any, is during the procedure, which will not persist after the treatment. Some patients say the feeling after the treatment is that of mild sunburn.
Is Laser Hair Removal for everyone?
The procedure will not work effectively on gray, light blond, white, light red hair. Additionally, some medications like photosensitive drugs or Accutane will not be permitted during treatment.
Pregnant candidates, open wounds or skin cancer patients, and candidates under 15 are not permitted to go through any form of laser treatments.
What do I need to do after treatment?
The targeted area will be extremely sensitive after the procedure, so avoid steam rooms, swimming pool, hot showers, saunas, and
exercise for approximately 2days. Ensure you do the following:
- Do not expose the treated part to direct sunlight.
- Avoid using thick creams or perfumed products for two days.
- If hair removal using lasers is done on your legs, Do not put on tight clothes for approximately 48hrs, as the clothing may aggravate newly treated skin.
All these may cause the treated part of the skin to become inflamed or irritated. It is vital that you adhere to these safety guides to protect your skin.
How much does a laser hair removal cost?
The cost varies and is contingent on the complexity and size of the part to be treated. The price for a particular area ranges between $50 and $600. We offer cost-effective combo packages pricing so you can actualize your goal of being hair-free. Other factors include:
- The doctor or dermatologist carrying out the treatment
- The time required for each procedure
- The location you choose to do the treatment
- The Number of treatments required
Is laser treatment worth it?
In contrast to shaving and waxing, laser hair removal is basically a more permanent alternative. After 4 to 6 sessions, the hair growth rate reduces and will no longer need to wax or shave them, saving you a lot of money.
